The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute is a high performing vacuum. It’s compact, easy to maintain and ideal for the busy home. It’s a complete vacuuming system for effective removal of debris from flooring and spot cleaning tasks.
What makes the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball unique?
It rides on a ball and steers easily to manoeuvre around corners and into difficult places. It also self-rights if it topples unlike conventional barrel vacuums that can fall over. Dyson Big Ball vacuums pick themselves up. This means that whenever the vacuum is displaced from its resting position, gravitational force automatically returns it. Or more simply, when it’s knocked over, it gets back up.
What is Dyson Cinetic technology and how does it work?

How many cleans can the Big Ball’s 1.6L-capacity bin handle before it needs to be emptied?
It all depends on how dirty your flooring is but on average you should be able to do at least two to three cleans before you need to empty the bin. When you first use the vacuum, the large bin will fill very fast as it’s such an effective vacuum and will remove deep and stubborn debris from carpets and hard floors. We recommend emptying after each use and keeping debris under the max line as this can assist with the longevity of your machine.
How versatile is the Big Ball? What kind of jobs can it do around the house?

Now we know what the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute is and the kind of technology that is packed into it. That means it’s time to take it for a test drive and see just how all those incredible features stack up. I wanted to see how well the Big Ball Absolute could handle a big job, so I took it into the often-ignored lunchroom in our office for a deep clean.
What accessories does the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute come with?
Opening the box, there is an accessory for everything you could need to clean around the home. With eight different attachment heads including the combination tool, the stair tool and more, the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute can already handle plenty of different kinds of surfaces and jobs with no extra accessories needed. On the off chance there’s a cleaning task you don’t already have the right tool for, the Big Ball Absolute is compatible with the entire range of Dyson cord vacuum accessories for added convenience.
How easy is the Dyson Vacuum to use?
Before I even started cleaning, the first thing I noticed was how easy the Big Ball Absolute is to put together. Seeing all the accessories and parts included, I was a bit intimidated to see how I would handle it, but the included assembly guide made the whole process hassle-free. Even without the guide, all the connections work on a simple click-in system so there’s no need to worry about screwing attachments together or trying to find the right end of a tool. Each piece fits easily into the next with no fuss.
For such a big and powerful machine, I was pleasantly surprised to see how light and easy to manoeuvre the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute was. The wand’s 360° articulation meant that I could push and pull it from any angle to get the vacuum where I needed to go. Just like Dyson’s tech expert Julie said, the Big Ball Absolute self-rights whenever it gets knocked over, meaning I could focus on cleaning instead of making sure the barrel was in the right position. I also found the quick suction-release trigger incredibly helpful whenever I needed to reposition the vacuum. All I had to do was press the always-in-reach button to turn off suction and pull the head away from the carpet for easy movement.
How does the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute perform?
The big indicator of how well the Dyson can perform is its power. I noticed strong suction as I vacuumed and no loss of suction as the barrel filled up. The Cinetic Big Ball was able to pick up plenty of dust. It even managed to pick up dirt and debris that had been firmly stuck to the carpet when I used an attachment like the Stubborn Dirt Brush. I was also excited to see that it performed just as well on other surfaces like the kitchen linoleum when I swapped to the Swivel Hard Floor Tool attachment.
The Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute was also able to perform with more challenging jobs and cleaning tasks. Using the carbon fibre soft dusting brush, I was able to tackle thick layers of dust on the tops of cabinets and appliances easily. Cleaning under surfaces were just as manageable with the Big Ball Absolute. The long and slim Reach under tool was perfect for removing dust from awkward places like the break room’s couches. I didn’t have to move or shift any furniture, I just effortlessly clicked-on the attachment and was able to reach further underneath the couches than most cleaners could.
Is the Dyson Cinetic worth it?
As someone who has used plenty of cheap and low-quality vacuums before, its clear that the Dyson Cinetic Big Ball Absolute is worth it. The Big Ball Absolute is durable and solid. This is a vacuum that’s not likely to break from the usual bumps and knocks of a household clean. It’s full of features that a cheaper model just can’t compete with and has the performance to back it up.
