Why I wanted the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer

Perfect for parents, the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer with Food Thermometer is the latest addition to Philips’ innovative Airfryer range. Available at Harvey Norman, its large 2kg/8.3L capacity is tailor-made for creating the entire family meals every day. Or, for cooking up a batch to spread out over multiple nights.

With two young kids of my own, you can see why this seemed like the ideal air fryer to review.

Beyond food quantity, the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer would also ensure the dishes being cooked up for my kids were healthy – heating up with hot air, not oil.

Now, if you haven’t used a Philips Airfryer before, I understand you might be rolling your eyes at the thought of convincing kids to eat nutritiously. But, for those in the know, you’ll understand just how good air-fried food tastes. Whether it’s meat and vegetarian air fryer recipes, or snacks and desserts, experience tells me kids will love it.

And, with that in mind, another reason the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer appeals to me as a parent is because of its connectivity with the Philips’ NutriU App.

The app houses a wide variety of healthy and delicious airfryer recipes created by experts from around the world. Recipes are recommended based on your preferences (or your children’s!). And, through connecting the app to the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer, you’ll receive step-by-step guidance throughout the cooking process.

A couple other features that captured my attention about this new Philips Airfryer were the included 22 cooking functions, plus the CombiAir Rapid Technology which automatically adjusts cooking times, air speeds and temperature for optimal results. Likewise, the integrated food thermometer would mean I’d be able to cook perfect protein every time.

Yes, I was very keen to review the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer with Food Thermometer. But it turns out I’m not the only parent in town.

My own mum and dad also happen to have a hungry child of their own.

OK, sure, I’m a 30-something living out of home.

And, yes, I should be the one cooking for my parents.

However, they expressed a keen interest in trying out the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer – and who was I to say no? I was more than happy to give them a go – on the proviso they made me some food, of course.

Now, admittedly, they didn’t realise that was going to be part of the deal, but what can you do? This review is delving into why the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer is convenient for parents, after all!

Mum’s Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer Review

After handing over the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer, I invited myself and my kids to Mum and Dad’s place for a delicious air-fried dinner.

After woofing down some chicken and felafel balls they’d cooked with the airfryer, I sat down with Mum to ask her how she was finding it.

What’s your favourite feature of the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer?

“If I’m naming just one or two favourites, I’d say the Philips 7000 Airfryer’s display is right up there. It’s so easy to use, which is very helpful.

“On the display, I can choose from many functions including auto-cook, which really takes the airfryer experience to the next level. I love how it calculates the required temperature and cooking time of what I’m making.”

Have you found the NutriU App convenient to use?

“The NutriU App is great! Once I paired the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer to the app, I was able to use it to read the manual, as well access a whole world of recipes, tips and articles.

“There are heaps of recipes that are specifically for the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer. I’ve spent rather a lot of time scrolling through various categories such as ‘Vegetarian’, ‘Easy’, ‘Less than 30 minutes’, and more.

“There’s so many healthy food ideas. I’ve saved loads of recipes to Favourites so they’re easy to find for next time.

What have been some of your favourite dishes you’ve cooked with the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer?

“I really enjoyed the chicken and felafel balls I cooked tonight!

“Actually, the first thing I cooked in the Philips 7000 XXXL Airfryer was the Bavarian Roast Chicken – a recipe on the NutriU App. Before this, I had never cooked a roast chicken that I’d been proud of. However, this chicken was juicy and delicious.

“It was so easy, too. I chose Autocook and selected Poultry. I entered the weight of the chicken (2kg) and 1.5 hours later it was perfect.

“The falafel balls were another recipe I found on the NutriU App. They were deliciously crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the centre, so I’ll certainly be making these again. I did notice that all the 20 falafel balls I made tonight were consumed in no time at all – not to mention the chicken!

“Also, from the NutriU app, I made Maple-glazed Carrots and Black Bean Cheeseburgers a couple nights ago, which were very popular with your father. In fact, I made the carrots the next night too because they were so scrumptious!”

Have you found the 8.3L capacity of the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer convenient for cooking for multiple people?

“The size of the Philips 7000 XXXL Airfryer is perfect for our household. I was amazed I could fit the large 2kg chicken easily into the basket.

“It’s been great for preparing large portions, which came in handy tonight with you and the grandkids coming over. Despite the ample capacity, I’ve got to say, it’s still compact enough to fit on my countertop appliance centre.”

Did you use the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Airfryer’s Food Thermometer?

“I was initially very tentative about using the Food Thermometer having never used one. However, in the end I did use it and I was delighted with it.

“The user guide explained exactly what to do. Having selected the Food Thermometer cooking setting, my airfryer automatically turned off the heating about 15 minutes before my medium fillet roast reached its optimum internal temperature. I found out that’s because meat continues to cook after the heat has been turned off. I watched the internal temperature of the fillet slowly rise until it reached the optimum 58 degrees, then tasted it. It was perfect.”

What are your thoughts on the Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer vs Ovens and other Air Fryers?

“As you know, I’ve got another air fryer. But I’ve only mainly used it for cooking frozen food and also chips and roast vegetables. The Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer is in another league, however, with its cooking functions and display. I love it!

“Truthfully, I would prefer to use this Philips Airfryer than my oven if given a choice. It’s faster and far more economical.”

Any other thoughts for your Philips 7000 Series XXXL Connected Airfryer review?

“I just thought of another feature I love about the Philips 7000 XXXL Airfryer – the slide-out basket! It’s super convenient as I don’t have to look for a pot stand or space on my bench to put it when I pull it out.

“Overall, I’m a huge fan of the way the Philips 7000 XXXL Airfryer cooks food. The dishes are healthy and tasty without the fats and calories that come with frying.

“Cleaning the Philips Airfryer is easy too. With the removable basket and the non-stick coating, I’ve found cleaning takes little time and effort. Plus, the basket with removable mesh bottom and the pan are dishwasher safe.

“If you want me to give you a summary, I’d say the combination of simple operations and versatile cooking functions, as well as easy cleaning and support, make this Philips Airfryer an amazing addition to the kitchen.”
